"I've been taking FloraPro 7 for 6 weeks after a course of antibiotics. My digestion has really normalised and I feel much better every day. I highly recommend it."

Swilab

Thank you so much, Hanna, for this feedback after your antibiotic course — that is exactly the situation FloraPro 7 was designed for. Glad it is working well for you.

"Chronic bloating for years. I tried several brands without much success. Here I noticed a clear difference from week 3. The gastro-resistant capsule really does make the difference."

Swilab

You have understood the key point, Frédéric — without a gastro-resistant capsule, a large proportion of strains do not pass through the stomach. That is exactly why we made this formulation choice. Keep going.

"A serious product with a transparent composition. I appreciate knowing exactly which strains are included and in what quantity. The fact that it is Swiss-made also played a role in my choice."

Swilab

That is exactly our approach, Silva. Every strain is named on the label and quantified — no vague formulations. Thank you for your trust.

"I was going through a very stressful period at work — chaotic sleep, completely disrupted digestion. Sceptical at first, but after 5 weeks with FloraPro 7 my stomach really settled. I'm sleeping better too, not sure if it's connected, but there it is."

Swilab

Thank you for this honest feedback, Marc. The link between stress and digestion is well documented — gut and brain communicate far more than people think. Great that you gave it a try despite the scepticism. Take care of yourself :)

"Second course for me. The first time was after a gastro bug that had thrown everything off. This time I'm taking it preventively in autumn. I really notice a difference — more regular digestion, fewer afternoon slumps."

Swilab

Thank you for this detailed feedback, Léa — and welcome to your 2nd course! The autumn prevention course is a great idea. Glad you have found your rhythm with the product.

"I had been looking for a Swiss-made probiotic for a while, without going through a pharmacy. The price is right and ordering was quick. On effectiveness: I'm in week 4, too early for a final verdict, but digestion is more stable. I'll report back after the full course."

Swilab

Thank you, Thomas, for this honest mid-course feedback. 4 weeks is the beginning of the effect — continuing should confirm what you are already noticing. Do report back at the end of the course — your feedback matters to us.

Swiss Probiotic — Your Questions, Our Answers.

FloraPro 7 FAQ — clear, evidence-based answers, compliant with Swiss regulations.

FloraPro 7 by Swilab — Swiss probiotic, 7 strains, 25 billion CFU per capsule
Why choose a Swiss probiotic?

Choosing a Swiss probiotic means opting for a food supplement held to particularly high standards. Probiotics are defined as live microorganisms contained in food supplements in controlled quantities. Switzerland has some of the most rigorous manufacturing standards in the world for this special category of products.

A probiotic manufactured in Switzerland is subject to the Federal Food Act (LFoodA) and FSVO (Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office) guidelines. In practice, this means strict raw material controls, full supply chain traceability, and batch-level compliance testing. For people who value transparency and quality when choosing a food supplement, Swiss production provides an additional guarantee.

FloraPro 7 is entirely developed, formulated and packaged in Switzerland — every stage meets these standards.

How many CFU should a good probiotic contain?

CFU stands for "colony-forming units" — the measure of the number of viable bacteria per dose. In the scientific literature, dosages used in clinical studies generally range from 1 to 50 billion CFU per day, depending on the area of application. For everyday use in adults, the 10 to 25 billion CFU range is the most common in research.

FloraPro 7 contains 25 billion CFU per capsule — a concentrated dosage at the upper end of high-quality probiotics on the Swiss market. The viability of bacterial cultures is batch-controlled and maintained until the expiry date through freeze-drying.

Tip: When looking to buy a probiotic, it is worth checking that the CFU count is guaranteed until the expiry date — not just at the time of manufacture.
What is the difference between single-strain and multi-strain probiotics?

A single-strain probiotic contains only one type of bacterium, while a multi-strain formula combines several bacterial strains. These approaches address different needs.

According to a review published in Current Nutrition Reports (Miles, 2020), multi-strain combinations of lactic acid bacteria from the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium genera showed greater efficacy in maintaining intestinal barrier function than single-strain products, particularly from 11 weeks of intake onwards.

FloraPro 7 combines 7 complementary strains: L. acidophilus, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus, B. bifidum, B. longum, B. lactis and S. thermophilus. These include both lactobacilli and bifidobacteriagut bacteria studied in the literature for their role in the intestinal flora. Other cultures frequently studied in the literature, such as Lactobacillus casei or Lactobacillus reuteri, are used in other formulations.

Not to be confused: Prebiotics are natural fibres that serve as food for the good bacteria already present in the gut — they complement probiotics but are not the same thing. Prebiotic fibres and nutrients such as inulin are found in chicory, garlic, onions, legumes and wholegrain products.

Fermented foods such as yoghurt or kefir also naturally contain live cultures — these provide probiotics, not prebiotics.

Why is a gastro-resistant capsule important for probiotics?

Stomach acid (pH between 1.5 and 3.5) can destroy a large proportion of probiotic microorganisms before they reach the intestinal mucosa, where they exert their action. Without adequate protection, conditions in the stomach can significantly affect culture viability.

A study published in Heliyon (Fredua-Agyeman, 2024) demonstrated in an in vitro model that enteric-coated capsules enable a viable cell survival rate of approximately 95%, withstanding simulated gastric fluid and dissolving in intestinal fluid.

FloraPro 7 uses plant-based HPMC probiotic capsules with enteric coating — gelatin-free, excipient-free, vegan — which protect all 7 strains during gastrointestinal transit and allow targeted release in the small intestine. The strains can thus reach the gut alive and temporarily adhere to the local mucosa.

When and how should I take FloraPro 7?

The recommended daily dose is 1 capsule per day, preferably with or just before a meal, with a glass of water. Taking probiotics with food reduces the exposure of live bacterial cultures to stomach acid.

If initial digestive discomfort occurs, intake can be increased gradually (for example, every other day in the first week). As part of a varied diet, it may be helpful to consume foods rich in prebiotic fibre (vegetables, legumes, wholegrains) that support the growth of beneficial gut bacteria in the microbiome.

Store below 25 °C and refrigerate after opening to maintain strain viability. FloraPro 7 is suitable for both a short-term course (1 to 3 months) and regular long-term use.

Can a probiotic cause side effects?

In the vast majority of healthy adults, probiotics are well tolerated. In the first few days of intake, mild digestive discomfort (bloating, gas) may occasionally occur until the digestive system adjusts. These reactions are generally transient and resolve on their own.

A meta-analysis published in Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases (Liu et al., 2025) across 24 randomised controlled trials reported no significant increase in adverse events with probiotic supplementation.

Use is not recommended without consulting a healthcare professional in cases of immunosuppression, immunosuppressive therapy, pregnancy, breastfeeding or diagnosed conditions. This applies particularly to people taking medication, as interactions cannot be ruled out. This product is not intended for children without medical advice.

Why are some healthcare professionals cautious about probiotics?

The caution of some healthcare professionals is not about probiotics per se, but rather about the heterogeneity of products available on the market. Many probiotic capsules do not list the bacterial strains used, state the CFU dosage only at the time of manufacture — with no guarantee until the expiry date — or use conventional capsules without protection against stomach acid. Furthermore, some products do not contain bacteria in sufficient quantity.

These factors make it difficult to assess the actual quality and possible effects on gut health. It is therefore advisable to consult a healthcare professional and to favour high-quality probiotics whose composition, dosage and manufacturing conditions are clearly documented.

How to choose an effective probiotic in Switzerland?

There is no one-size-fits-all probiotic supplement — the choice depends on individual needs. However, several objective criteria can help assess quality:

  • Number and diversity of bacterial strains — multi-strain formulas with Lactobacillus and bifidobacteria are the most documented in the scientific literature
  • CFU dosage guaranteed until the expiry date, not just at the time of manufacture
  • Type of capsule — enteric-coated for targeted release on the intestinal mucosa
  • Label transparency (every strain and its quantity clearly listed)
  • Place of manufacture and regulatory compliance

FloraPro 7 meets all these criteria: 7 documented lactic acid bacteria strains, 25 billion CFU per capsule, vegan gelatin-free enteric-coated HPMC capsule, detailed composition on the label, and production entirely in Switzerland under FSVO oversight. Anyone looking to buy a probiotic in Switzerland will find a product that meets high quality standards.
